Medtronic i-Port Advance is a subcutaneous injection port designed for people who require multiple daily injections, including insulin therapy. The port is inserted once and allows medication to be injected through the device instead of puncturing the skin directly with every injection.
A single i-Port Advance can be worn for up to 72 hours or up to 75 injections, whichever comes first. This helps reduce repeated direct needle punctures and can make frequent injections more convenient for adults and children, including people who feel anxious about needles.
The soft 6 mm cannula remains under the skin while injections are given through the resealable septum on top of the port. No injection needle remains under the skin between doses.
